Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Russia to attend the BRICS summit. 

PM Modi will visit Russia on 22-23 October at the invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin to attend the 16th BRICS summit. 

This information was given by the Ministry of External Affairs on Friday. This time the 16th meeting of the BRICS summit will be held in the Russian city of Kazan. 

A statement issued by the Ministry of External Affairs said that during his visit to Russia, PM Modi can also hold bilateral meetings with his counterparts of BRICS member countries and the leaders invited in Kazan.

The theme of this year's BRICS summit is "Strengthening Multilateralism for Global Development and Security". 
The Ministry of External Affairs said that this summit will provide an important platform for the leaders to discuss the major issues of the world. The Ministry of External Affairs said, 

"This summit will assess the progress of the initiatives launched by BRICS and it will also provide a valuable opportunity to identify potential areas for future cooperation."

Let us tell you that in July, Prime Minister Narendra Modi went to the Russian capital Moscow to attend the 22nd India-Russia summit. 

During this visit, PM Modi had a bilateral meeting with Russian President Putin. During this visit, PM Modi was awarded the highest civilian honor 'Order of St. Andrew the Apostle'.
