Siddiq, the niece of Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, was accused of lack of transparency and corruption regarding her properties in London. After these allegations, she described her continuation in the post as an obstacle to the government.
In fact, Siddiq said in her letter to Prime Minister Keir Starmer that she has always worked as per the advice of the officials and with transparency.
But due to these controversies, she decided to leave the post of minister. She assured that she will work with complete transparency in future also.
The British Prime Minister accepted Siddiq's resignation and said that no evidence of any financial irregularities or violation of
ministerial rules has been found against him. The Prime Minister's Office stressed that the resignation has been given to run the government's work in a better way.
After Siddiq's resignation, Labour Party MP Emma Reynolds has been appointed the new Finance Minister.
Downing Street confirmed this change and said that the government is fully prepared to fulfill its responsibilities.
