Terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir Ganderbal district
Terrorists shot dead two
migrant labourers in Sonamarg area of Ganderbal district of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday evening. The attack took place near a tunnel under construction.
Security forces have been sent to the spot to secure the area and start investigation.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said that two people have been killed and two-three people have also been injured.
Initial investigation revealed that the workers who were attacked were part of a construction team working on the Z-Morh tunnel, which connects Gagnir to Sonamarg in Ganderbal district of central Kashmir.
Security forces have reached the spot of attack and cordoned off the area and a search is underway for the militants. Jammu and Kashmir Police said the area has been cordoned off.
Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah reacted to the firing.
He said, "Very sad news of a cowardly attack on non-local labourers in Gagnir in Sonamarg area.
These people were working on an infrastructure project in the area. 2 people have been killed and 2-3 others injured in this terrorist attack.
I strongly condemn this attack on unarmed innocent people and offer my condolences to their loved ones."
