The recent violence in Sambhal district of Uttar Pradesh has alerted the security agencies. NIA and other intelligence agencies have intensified the investigation after foreign cartridges were found in the violence over the survey of Jama Masjid.
Agencies are investigating whether any terrorist organization could be behind this violence. Sambhal has been associated with terrorist activities earlier as well. About a decade ago, Al-Qaeda's Asia Chief Asif was arrested from Sambhal.
After this, many more youths were also arrested on charges of terrorism, many of whom are still in jail. Now the security agencies have become alert again after cartridges made in Pakistan and America were found in the recent violence.
Intelligence agencies are now gathering information about those suspicious youths who suddenly disappeared from Sambhal before the violence. Also, the mobile phone details of the arrested rioters are being re-examined so that the conspiracy behind the violence can be exposed.
The police have started a comprehensive checking campaign to keep an eye on any suspicious activity in Sambhal. Suspicious vehicles and people are being searched. Additional police force has also been deployed in the city in view of security.
Sambhal SP Krishna Kumar Vishnoi has said that after the discovery of foreign cartridges, a terrorist conspiracy cannot be ruled out in the violence. He said that the police and intelligence agencies are also investigating from this angle.
He said, "The use of foreign cartridges is not a normal incident. This matter is being investigated in depth." The possibility of a terrorist conspiracy in the case of violence has raised many questions. Sambhal, which has a history of terrorist organizations like Al-Qaeda, has been on the radar of security agencies earlier as well. Now after the discovery of foreign cartridges, the matter has become more serious.
The Sambhal violence has alerted the district administration and police. The activities of suspects are being monitored in the entire district. Based on checking campaigns and intelligence inputs, the police is investigating every aspect.
