In 2024, India's smartphone market grew 4% year-on-year, taking total sales to nearly 150 million units. During this period, Vivo overtook Samsung to top the list with a 16.6% market share. Samsung's market share stood at 13.2%, followed by Oppo at 12%, Xiaomi at 12%, and Realme at 11%.
Additionally, India became the fourth-largest market for Apple in 2024 after the US, China, and Japan, where the company sold 12 million units, marking an annual growth of 35%.
In the third quarter of 2024, smartphone
shipments in India grew 5.6% to reach 46 million units. Apple sold 4 million units in this quarter with its largest ever shipment.
The average selling price (ASP) of smartphones
reached $258, up 0.9% year-on-year and 3.8% quarter-on-quarter. The share of 5G smartphone shipments increased to 83%, while the ASP of 5G smartphones declined 20% year-on-year to $292.
