Congress leader Shama Mohammed started a new debate by making a controversial comment on Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma. She called Rohit Sharma 'fat' and called his captaincy the 'worst' in India's history. After this, BJP leader Radhika Khera attacked Congress. Know the story of this entire controversy and who said what!

Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma is once again in the headlines, but this time outside the cricket field! Congress leader Shama Mohammed body-shamed Rohit Sharma and called him 'fat' and questioned his captaincy. After this comment of hers, there was a ruckus on social media.

Shama Mohammed posted on X (Twitter) and wrote,

Rohit is fat as a player. He needs to lose weight. And yes, he is the most disappointing captain India has ever had."

After this statement of hers, there was a storm of criticism from all sides, due to which she was forced to delete her tweet. But by then it was too late, as the screenshots of the post had gone viral.

BJP gave a befitting reply

BJP leader Radhika Khera fiercely attacked Congress and its leaders on this statement of Shama Mohammed.

Radhika Khera wrote on X,

"Is this the same Congress, which insulted athletes for decades, refused to recognize them and is now mocking a cricket legend? The party that thrived on nepotism is now preaching to the champion?"

She targeted Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and said that

"Rohit Sharma won the T20 World Cup for India, but Congress struggled to handle its own party."

Not only this, Radhika Khera also took a dig at senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh and said that

"Instead of targeting the pride of India, he should focus on the declining credibility and electoral position of the Congress party."

Shama Mohammed clarified

After the controversy escalated, Congress leader Shama Mohammed clarified that her tweet was not body shaming, but a general comment on the fitness of athletes.

She said,

"It was not body shaming. I have always believed that a player should stay fit. I felt Rohit Sharma was a bit overweight, so I just tweeted about it."

Uproar on social media

There were mixed reactions from people on social media regarding this issue. Some people criticized Shama Mohammed, while some called it an unnecessary controversy.

This controversy shows that sports and politics are now more connected than ever before. Commenting on a player's fitness can be a personal choice, but insulting someone on a public platform gives rise to controversy. Now it remains to be seen whether Congress will give any official response to this or this controversy will end here?
