Now the newly elected President of America, Trump has nominated Indian-American Harmeet Dhillon as Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights in the Department of Justice.

Trump announced on his social media account Truth Social, "I am pleased to nominate Harmeet K Dhillon as Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights in the US Department of Justice. 

Harmeet is one of the country's top election advocates, fighting to ensure that all and only valid votes are counted. Harmeet is a respected member of the Sikh religious community. 

In her new role in the Department of Justice, Harmeet will be a protector of our constitutional rights and will enforce our civil rights and election laws fairly and firmly."
